Rob's personal investment in our family through therapy and parent
support groups helped us in discovering our own patterns and how they impact our lives... not only
as parents, but in all aspects of our lives!
Rob has guided, counseled, and coached us through numerous
difficult situations, and because of his wisdom and experience, he was able to quickly
and clearly identify core issues that are the sources of conflict... Ultimately, his
insight and knowledge of family patterns allowed us to resolve problems, keep
focused on long-term goals, and make positive changes that have strengthened our
family relationships and improved communication.
Compassionate Therapy. As therapists and guides, Northlight Family Services therapists have a thorough
understanding of diagnosis, assessment, and treatment. We are perceptive in identifying
what individuals and families need to make long-lasting change. Each member of our team
of experiential therapists has unique skills and qualities and is prepared to support
families through the process of using a residential program.
Our systems approach focuses on relationships and boundaries in the family. In addition
to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, we use experiential modalities such as art
therapy, equine-assisted psychotherapy, and outdoor-experiential therapy to help families
see and feel dysfunctional patterns of relationship in the moment. Using unique approaches,
families build awareness of patterns of relationship, explore tools to interrupt dysfunctional
patterns, and build new and healthier patterns through direct experience and practice.
Therapy can be scheduled on a regular basis through our main office.
Parent Support Groups:
Northlight Family Services offers parent support groups in Boulder and Denver for families
whose children are in or have been in residential programs. Parents have an opportunity to share
their thoughts, concerns, and issues with other parents. We use open-ended discussion,
therapeutic activities, and occasional didactic instruction. We believe that it is important
to have a community of support where parents can learn from each other. The groups have
parents whose children are at various stages in the placement process ranging from about to
go to a school to finished with their residential program(s) and living back at home.
